Introducing The Hidden
The Hidden 20% relaunches as The Hidden, with a campaign for a Minister for Neurodiversity.
Founded by Ben Branson, the neurodiversity organisation is building a national movement to make the hidden visible. The Hidden 20% today relaunches as The Hidden.
The new name marks a new mission: to make neurodiversity a national conversation, and to campaign for the UK's first Minister for Neurodiversity.
Why the new name?
The organisation has dropped the "20%" because it no longer believes neurodiversity is a minority issue. Millions of people are only now working out who they are, and the systems around them have not caught up.
Neurodivergent people face years-long waits for assessment. They are failed by schools never built for their brains, pushed out of work, and over-represented in the prison system.
YouGov research commissioned by the organisation found just 26% of UK adults think employers support neurodivergent people well, while 49% say they don't.
Ben Branson, founder and CEO of The Hidden, said: "Today we become The Hidden and we’re calling for a Minister for Neurodiversity. It’s time to join the dots and build the future for every brain. Onwards!"
At the heart of the relaunch is a call on Prime Minister Andy Burnham to appoint a Minister for Neurodiversity: one person accountable for a funded national plan that joins up schools, work, health and justice. The Hidden will launch its national petition in March 2027.
